DESCRIPTION: APW - Hamilton, Grade 936 with rare hacking function, 17J, 18S, sterling silver OF recase marked "U.S. Navy No. 1758" on its rear, white enamel SS dial, SW-LS with hacking function, nickel damascene, s#987295. The hacking feature of this watch functions via a post and wire that are adjacent the balance wheel; when the setting lever is pulled out this post rotates moving the wire into contact with the balance wheel and stopping its motion. CONDITION: Mvt: Running, good hacking function, near mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous plates, small patch of fine scratches on main plate between upper case screw and balance cock foot, few small fine scratches adjacent lower case screw; dial with hl at 12:30, very small flake tight along edge under bezel at setting lever; excellent hour and minute hands, fine seconds-hand with oxide; case shows very little wear, a light patina, no dents or dings, excellent engraving detail; tight bow, crown shows very little wear; good glass crystal.
